Throughout my social media class, I have learned a lot and have gain a lot of skills and valuable knowledge. Coming into the class I already knew the great importance and significance of using social media networks. Social media networking is super beneficial for self advertisement especially in this day and age, everyone and everything is online these days. At the start of this semester I was primarily just used to using your average social networks like Facebook, twitter and youtube. As weeks went on the class exposed me to a lot of different sites that where more relevant as to my field of work (Photography&Videography). Sites like Behanced, WordPress, Linked In, and About me we learned about and discovered they’re purpose. These sites are very critical int the field that I work in, Behance is a beautiful site because it allows you to create portfolios and as well as have other people view them as well. My experience through out this class was very beneficial, i obtained a lot of information and will definitely be using it in the future. Ive left a pretty decent social media footprint so far. For the most part I had a great knowledge of using social media networks, this class added onto that information, the goal is to bring people to your work and your sites, to raise awareness of your work and your online presence.
Online Reputation management
A online reputation is very important especially within the field I work in. Social media plays a tremendous role with getting your content out to the world. Your online reputation is everything, you want to have as much positive content associated with your online reputation as possible because it will say a lot about you as a individual. If you are to encounter negative post about you or your business online then there are solutions to help the negativity sort of hide the negativity in a sense, first off my best advice would to definitely be not to attract any attention to it, this would mean that you should not comment on it or express your opinions on it, PRETEND IT DOESN’T EXSIST! In most cases if you are to receive negative post or content that is directed towards you online then you should just let it be, don’t worry about defending your self you will attract attention to the situation, if there is a problem try to dispute it on a local level with the individual(s). Personally I do think that all or at least most attention towards you is good attention because your name is getting out there, more people are going to know about you and weather good or bad they will know and this to me could be considered as great opportunity because it exposes you to a whole other group of people, and who knows maybe there could be a post about how bad your work is for your business and people will want to see your work and someone might end up liking it, you never know ! Another way to hide negative things posted online associated with your name or you is to post a lot of positive content within the time frame, so if anyone happens to search your name they will have to dig through a lot of new content to get to the older content which is where you want to leave bad post.
Personally I do watch what i post online because you never know who’s watching, I have no privacy settings on any of my online accounts because all the content I share is meant to be seen by the public eye.
For your personal online reputation it is very important to monitor exactly what content you choose to release, in most cases you might want to be aware of the language you use and sort of stay away from really graphic content. Being professional is very key to everything you do, its in your best interest to post content that is suitable for all ages, that really extends your limits in terms of your work or post being exposed to the world. A very key thing to remember is that ONCE YOU POST ANYTHING TO THE INTERNET YOU CAN NEVER TAKE IT BACK, ITS THERE FOREVER! The thought of that may scare some, which is a good thing, you never know who will save one of your not so appealing photos and use it against you in the future, it is important to be very careful. Overall you want your online reputation to say a lot of positive things about you and only further compliment on what others already know about you and or your business.

I Darren Balgobin have created a mini portfolio here displaying my very OWN personal style of photography I have created. Of course some of the best creations come by mistake, this style that i have develop came as a result of a beautiful mistake. If you look at the images you will immediate notice they all have a similar look to them, and that would be the backgrounds. I have searched and have not found any photographers who have this style. I cannot reveal on how exactly i achieved this look because i would rather keep that a secrete, but i will say that it is very easy to do. Through every client I go through, I try to get a few shots in of my signature photography style. The backgrounds have a very unique gradience to them, they involve a lot of different tones, shapes and shadows. I would really wish for the near future that I be recognized first hand for this style!
Copy rights
Today we learned about copy rights and had a more in depth perspective on how to protect our work and on how to be very cautious and aware of contracts and lending and taking rights. It is very important to make sure that you have the copyrights attached to your work within the meta data, as well make up your own contract that works for you ensuring that you will get credit from your work from your client. If you are giving your soul rights to some of your work you created make sure you can sell it for as much money possible, because after that you will no longer own it and will not be able to use it.
CarlsBerg Beer Commercial
Today I have came across a very unique commercial,
in this commercial, they tried to convey a variety of messages while still promoting their beer.
a lot of different elements came into play to create such a good commercial, they had humour, suspense, curiosity, and the feeling of being surprised. Aside from that on the production side the commercial was very well done, they incorporated hidden cameras, proper and exposed lighting for their set and very good audio capture. The commercial plot itself was very brilliant as well it kind of took the role of breaking stereotypes, if you watch the commercial then you will know exactly what I’m talking about. In my opinion i personally think that you need these elements to create a good commercial, good production as well a good plot.
Ehamoney commcercial (Spoof) – Viral Video
This week we have filmed our viral video. For our video we decided to go with something funny, upon many ideas we chose to go with a Eharmony dating site profile, of a not so desirable individual named “Le-roy GetBucks”. He is a big talker but when it comes to to his assets that he talks so highly about but they turn out to be not all that. Our idea was based on a pre-existing idea, Lindsey Lohan’s version is where we originally got the idea.

Interview on Durham College student Diego Orozco (Videographer)
Today I have had a brief interview with my fellow classmate Diego Orozco in the Digital Video Production program at Durham College. Through out the interview I discussed multiple topics with Diego, most relating to videography. From my researched I discovered that Diego is aiming to be a video journalist. He frequently follows and watches a lot of videos on youtube, Diego mentioned that there was a specific youtube channel that had caught his eye by the tittle of “Vice”. Diego said “I like the youtube channel “vice” because of the type of videos they publish, there videos are real and have importance to them. The channel post a lot of documentary type videos which interest me because of what is discussed in the videos, real world topics”. Diego made it clear that “Vice” is a big inspiration and interest for him. Vice is a world wide online news broadcast that cover current issues in our world today, they give a movie documentary feel with all their videos. Documentaries are shot from a first person type of view, they are designed to tell a story while provide information, a very useful learning tool. Vice news has a huge fan base seeing as they are world wide, there team is equip with a lot of video journalist that go out and find what’s making headlines in our current time. Vice news started off with only a few people and over time the team grew as there fan base grew aswell. They provide a wide rangeof content. In order to make a documentary it takes a lot of running around and interviewing multiple sources to get different views and perspective on the topics. A predecessor to video journalism first appeared in the 1960s in the USA, when reporters had to write and shoot their own stories. News journalism intrigues Diego seeing as he is still in his first year he still is exploring a lot of other fields. The entertainment industry interest Diego aswell because he watches a lot of music videos in his spare time. Diego watcheshis fellow classmate Darren Balgobin for the entertainment field in videography seeing as Darren is already out in the field doing work and taking on projects for clients. Diego would like to pursue making more music videos later on, he has already finished up one project for a local rapper and wouldn’t mind doing more projects in the near future.

One of Steven Meisels photo that caught my eye was this picture of the women with a cigarette in her mouth. The photographer made the image very appealing with little details, her clothing, the way the cigarette is positioned in her mouth, the facial expression, all these details come together to produce a very appealing photograph of the women. Steven Meisels is a very high up fashion photographer, he has worked alongside alot of celebrities and well known companies.

About the twitter Widget ” TweetDeck”
Upon my research I have came across multiple apps and widgets. Through the many of them I discovered a Widget called “TweetDeck”. Now I know what’re wondering, What is TweetDeck? TweetDeck, is a widget/app that enhances your twitter experience. The widget provides a wide variety of different functionality. TweetDeck can be used as a great organizational tool for twitter, by completely customizing your whole twitter timeline in a way that suits your needs, you can organize tweets into columns, sections and categories. Also you have the ability to make multiple timelines to keep relevant tweets on their own separate timelines.
